That’s right, Fiverr has been around for many years (since February 2010 to be precise) and I have been a member since January 2011, as a “buyer”, then a bit later offering my services as a “seller” (https://www.fiverr.com/magellon) and made a lot of money over the years. 

There is no charge to join as a buyer (when you want to hire the services of a seller), and you can offer your services (becoming a seller yourself at the same time).

Unfortunately people think that because it is called Fiverr, you are not allowed to offer your skills for more than $5 (a fiver), it only means that everything starts at $5 and can go up to hundreds of dollars as you are becoming senior in the business.

Fiverr is the name of the company, and a Fiverr gig is a service that is offered by a member of Fiverr who is a seller. So as a buyer, you can buy a gig, and as a seller, you sell gigs (which are your services or skills).
