Whoa Joel you sound quite annoyed with what’s happening to you, who wouldn’t be. Sorry to read the problem you are having with Cambly. I am quite sure that there is a misunderstanding somewhere. Although I have no reason to not believe you, but I have the feeling that your figures are rather elevated. During my research I came across several negative reviews, we find them everywhere, but not to that extent.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience Joel and I hope that you have this issue resolved.

Cambly customer service is just about the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Somehow, my tutor account was totally deleted. I’m not even sure if I was fired or what, if anything, I did wrong. This month was my 3-year anniversary on Cambly. I had logged over 18,000 chats earning more than $47,000. As far as I knew everything was fine. I had about 3 weeks of Priority Hours booked and many reservations scheduled. I had a small and loyal following of regular students, many of whom I had known for years. It would have been nice to at least say goodbye. I guess I’ll never get that chance.

Hey nice article you have there. This is the exact platform I have been looking for to learn and an achieve my multi language quest. It is indeed awesome finding a platform that can offer that. From cambly I think everyone in the platform can earn if you can speak and teach a language fluently, you might find someone that needs a tutor on that language and you get paid for it, vice versa also. So everyone is working on cambly.

I have no idea of how you master the spoken English language Sami, but as your written English being quite good I may assume that you should be speaking English quite well. Perhaps you would like to practice it with someone who masters the Queen's English, so Cambly could be your answer and I recommend that you give it a go.

Like you, I have not seen any advertisement for it, but I just happen to fall on a website which was talking about it and it attracted my attention because my wife is English so I thought that she might be interested in joining, and she did.

Hi Justin,

Cambly is a totally different system from what we are used to see when it comes to learning a language. It is really a one-on-one learning opportunity which allows you, the student, to practice a language with a real person, and not a robot as many applications are offering.

So yes, I think it is a great experience to look out for.

What a fun way to work. This could allow you to work some flexible hours in a semicasual mode. The idea of not being on a schedule is kind of interesting and makes the whole idea of work seem more pleasant. Does Cambly do lots of advertising to keep the opportunities available? I don't believe I saw anything about needing to try to hustle your own clients. As my English sometimes slips to the lazy side, I have certainly never considered this as something I should consider teaching or helping anyone with. Having the pay rate low is a definite negative, but when coming with few skills beyond speaking more than one language could be an excellent way to brush up skills.

From a client angle, seems there would be a number of times that people need a little help, but don't want or need to sign up for a full course. Like when you are brushing up on a language after not thinking or communicating in that language for a while. When you are working on a language course and need some tutoring. Being able to have a critique of how social customs are different. This seems to be the perfect place to practice after learning using prerecorded lessons.

Just like going to have a haircut polishes your appearance, the polishing language skills seems a win or boost for someone who is wanting to kick up the professional presence when there are language differences. Now that I know about this service, would be one to consider before going back to Norway or Germany.

Hello John, learning other languages is a fun thing for me and currently i am learning german using an app which I find a bit difficult since i can't ask questions with regards what is unclear to me. I would be very pleased to try Cambly out knowing is all about me chatting with the teacher and i find it ready cool and simple. Thanks for sharing this wonderful information.

Cambly is only for Native English Speaking Tutors helping students wishing to improve their English skills, particularly through conversation but also with formal lessons, depending on the student’s requirements.
They do not deal with teaching/learning any other languages other than English.
It’s not a scam, though it’s not going to make you rich either. It is extremely flexible however, and you can work as much or as little as you wish.
