Thanks very much for sharing your views on the effectiveness of email marketing Lizzy. To give you an idea about my experience with email marketing:

I started my Internet marketing career over 20 years ago, a few years before Twitter was founded. At that time email marketing was the thing to do to promote your business, so I subscribed to one of the autoresponder platforms I am recommending in my article. All went well till the arrival of Twitter, which I immediately joined, built a huge followers’ list and started promoting.

It then became much better, easier and responsive than email marketing. But as Internet users became more demanding, social networking started to lose its benefits. Then they started to introduce paid advertising and to filter ads from those who were not paying their astronomical charges, and even delete accounts. I had several of my Twitter accounts shut down for no verifiable reasons, costing me hundreds of thousand followers (potential buyers) to vanish with no advance notice.

Right now I can say that my Twitter ads bring me zero benefits, while each time I post a message to my relatively minute list of double opted-in subscribers I end up with several sales.

It is not difficult to write a few words about a new product that you have discovered, or about the latest article you posted on your blog or website, trust me, and it stays in your recipient’s in box till they read it and act upon it.

You say that it is worth trying out how many times people should send an email, like weekly or monthly. I don’t know each week what I will talk about next, so maybe for me, it would be better once every 2 weeks instead of 1 time a week? Because I think that affects the quality of the emails if I am always trying to look for a good topic to talk about. Thanks for your informative blog post!
