You are quite right, the easiest and cheapest way to keep track of your projects and tasks to perform as a business, or personal life is on a calendar.

Personally, I mostly use Google Calendar, which is free, and you can manage your various calendars into one, one for each business, or department in your business, one for your personal life, appointments, etc., and you can set them to send you an email or notifications when something is due. You can also add colors for each type of task. Plus it is synchronized with your phone, so you always have access to it. 

Of course, as you say Owoeye, it is important to keep it up to date.
