Get More Traffic To Your Website (3 Super Strategies)
Feel free to discuss your traffic strategies in the comment section below so that we can all benefit.
Let me kick start this discussion with 3 of my most successful website traffic strategies.
How to get more traffic to your website
Most of us will probably agree with me that the most commonly used is:
1 – Advertising
Here is a question for you: If you are totally new to a market, with no network, no JV partners, no customer and no leads, will you be able to establish a presence in the market?
You are right, one and probably the only way to get more traffic to your website is to actively promote your website on the social platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and some forums. But that takes a lot of time and effort. Therefore a faster option would be to advertise.
There are 2 breeds of marketers when it comes to advertising:
- In the first category falls those who advertise with the aim of making sales in order to recover the advertising cost as soon as possible, and if possible with a good profit.
- The second type are those who advertise with the intention of building a network and/or a mailing list. Rapidly recuperate of the advertising outlay is secondary because the network they have built will eventually pay back the advertising costs and much more.
It is hard to say in which group of advertiser is best to be. But personally, I feel more comfortable by belonging in the second class. How about you? Where do you fit? Again, please do share your ideas in the comment area below.
2 – Search Engine Traffic
One good thing about search engine traffic is that it could be free and pretty manageable. The problem is that it costs time, money and know-how to buildup that traffic.
The SEO (Search Engine Optimization) game can be a long-term game (at least 6 – 12 months). Most people fail and quit because they are only looking and hoping for short-term results. As I have often discussed with my students, with the launch of Google Caffeine, the emphasis is now on site authority, and one of the major factors that determine site authority is the age of the website.
If you do not have the patience to, write quality contents, build links and be patient, then your answer is to leverage on authority sites that allow you to post articles, such as Squidoo, Ezinearticles and many more. These article submission websites have already established their authority and if your article is accepted to appear on it, with some proper link building effort, you can easily get it rank well in Google, and relatively fast. Then, you can attempt to redirect the traffic back to your website. The ‘route’ will be a little longer, but it is a good move because this traffic is free and tend to become long-term.
3 – Word-Of-Mouth
By experience, the best form of traffic has to be by word-of-mouth traffic. It is the best because it is free, and the best part is that you don’t have to worry whether Google will still like you tomorrow! (sorry Google).
Word-of-mouth is the true power of social networking at it purest state. Instead of you tactfully and subtly promoting your website on Facebook, Twitter, forums, etc., you now have other people recommending your website through all sorts of channels.
You could easily speed up the word-of-mouth process with a reliable referral program. This is something I have been recommending occasionally, but many marketers are still not having their own referral program, especially affiliate marketers.
Most affiliate marketers limit their traffic sources to just advertising, search engine and self-promotion in social medias.
Can marketers who promote other people’s products run their own affiliate programs? Of course they can, why not? In fact it should be the way.
You can always create a product that fills a demand in the market you intend to promote to, and recruit your own affiliates to promote that product while on the other hand, you promote other people’s products to the traffic that you receive. Understand?
There you have it, my best website traffic strategies. I have been using these 3 strategies since about 2007 to build a pretty stable online income.
And how do YOU get more traffic to your website?
How about you? Share with us your best traffic strategies. Even if it’s a repeat of the three I have discussed above, it’s still good to list it down and reveal your own experience. I thank you for your contribution in advance.

Great article — I have to take a look at Squidoo and Ezine and other sites where I can promote my site. I never heard of that before and so glad I came across this article. I don’t always have time to write articles so this would be a great way for me to promote my site. I don’t know too much about Google Caffeine — how can I learn more about that? Clearly you are an authority on the subject and thank you for some great tips and tricks!
Thanks for visiting my website and for your comments Amy. Yes, depending on SEO alone to rank your website is one thing, but it needs a bit of help to get it higher and quicker, so that’s where advertising comes into action. As you have read in my article, there are many ways that you can promote your articles. A platform that I also recommend is LeadsLeap. It is really a very user friendly platform with many free tools made available to their members.
To put it simply, “Google Caffeine” is basically an improvement of the Google search engine as we knew it before 2010. You are already using Google Caffeine. It provides a better user experience, as it is faster, more accurate in its searches and better for ranking. If you want to learn more about it, and in great details, just make a search for “What is Google Caffeine?”. Enjoy it.
I hope to have answered your question and I wish you the very best for your online venture.

Great information! I have been looking for ways to build my traffic. Right now I rely heavily on social media and SEO for my traffic. I had not considered a referral program, but I am thinking that this is my next avenue. I also know that I need to add an email pop up to get sign ups so that I can send them emails with products and deals. Do you use this and is this a tool that is worth while?
Thanks very much for visiting my website Leahrae, and for your comment. I am glad to know that you have a good idea of what should be done. Unfortunately it is physically not possible to do everything that should be done, and your present budget might not permit you to hire the services of freelancers yet, or purchase some expensive programs. On the other hand there is a lot that you can do for free, or with a little investment. As you are mentioning the need of collecting email addresses in order to followup with your visitors, this is a must. There are many autoresponder companies out there, of course the best ones are not cheap, but to start with you can use one that is free, which works as well. For this service, and many other advertising services, I am using a program called LeadsLeap. It is free to join, and one of their features is in fact a free autoresponder. I have upgraded to the PRO version because I have been with them for years, and it makes my life much easier, but the free version is worth having a look at.
I hope that this helps you in your progress, and if you have any questions, please do contact me at any time.
Best wishes of success with your online venture.
