How To Promote A Product Effectively — 16 Comments

  1. Good day John

Another thought-provoking article – thank you. All of them valid points of how to promote a product effectively, but I can especially agree with the calico bags, since I still have most of the promotional bags that I have received over the years and use them when doing my regular shopping. And you are right, not only is it comforting to know that I’ve got the planet’s best interest at heart, but it is a constant reminder of the product too.

May you enjoy a lovely day!

    • Thanks for your comments on my latest article Sharlee. That’s true, very often business owners don’t understand that the best investment on their advertisement is in the quality of the free gift, it can go a long way if well chosen. There is no much point of giving away something that will go straight into the rubbish bin.

And as you wisely say, people nowadays pay a lot of attention to what encourages to save our poor planet.

I wish you the very best,

      John ツ

  2. Love this post, very motivational and yes I am wanting to retire for FREE and easy. I like what you said about taking the responsibility for the products that you are selling. To many people just put stuff on their website and hope that it sells itself. I am not a huge fan of email marketing, but reading your post is making me re-think my position on it. Thanks again John-huge eye-opener for me.

    • Thanks for visiting my website Bobbi, and for your comments. I am a great believer in using the product before recommending it, that’s the way it should be, in fact, there should be a rule (or law) compelling people who are recommending a product to have used it, a bit like Amazon does in some cases, that would reduce scam enormously.

Email marketing has been a huge thing a few years back, I have done a lot of it and still doing a lot of business with it. Business people have left it for a while because it had become a spammer’s paradise, and favored Social Media Marketing for a while, but with the laws being tighter on this marketing activity, it is coming back and it has survived the bad reputation given to it.

I hope to see you here again soon and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here for the benefit of my readers.

      Best wishes,

      John ツ

  3. Great post, John! I’ve been thinking a lot about my own brand and how I can promote it, as I have just recently started my own website.

I like the idea of creating a free PDF for readers, since a lot of my website revolves around how-to’s and whatnot.

What is the best way to package content into a single e-book? Do you recommend repackaging your existing web content, or creating new content from scratch for this?

    • Thanks very much for visiting my website and for your comments and question Bill. Congratulations on creating your own website and I wish you the very best with it.

If you are able to completely write your own eBook from scratch that would be the best, otherwise repackaging your web content into an eBook would work, but do you already have enough material for a complete eBook? If not and do not have the time to do that yourself, you can hire the services of a professional, there are some really good one on Fiverr.

Let us know here how you are getting on with your project Bill and I look forward to seeing you here often as I have several exciting articles in the pipeline that I am sure you will like.

      Best wishes,

      John ツ

  4. This is a very informative article. I like the benefits of having repeat customers by simply keeping them informed through e-mail of any new items. I agree that customers are getting wiser these days and selling can be tougher. Thanks to all of the scams that are floating around, you have to do your homework. Being the middle man, you need to have all of the answers for them and build a good reputation. This is not impossible and easier than many think.

    • Thanks very much for your thoughts on the subject Tony. Yes it is very important that you purchase and test the product for a while yourself before promoting it, so that you will already have the answers for your prospects, and know if it is a product worth promoting, as you want to keep a good reputation among your followers and clients.

There are also other ways to keep in touch with your prospects and clients which is to share updates via social media, it is quick and easy to do, and very interactive.

I look forward to your next visit here Tony, I have loads of great information coming up soon.

      Take care,

      John ツ

  6. Hi John! I love this website. I am just getting into content marketing and never considered the other things you mentioned like a free PDF, or memberships. I think the PDF book is great idea and not too difficult to produce since we already have the content. There is just so much to think about that it can be overwhelming sometimes!

    • Thanks for your comment Valerie. Yes, there are so many things that can be given away for free and that are easy to create, which our prospects or clients will appreciate very much. One that I like to distribute and which is extremely useful is the famous “One Signup A Day Strategy” eBook, downloadable or readable online, no signup necessary to have it, so it is very much appreciated for that reason alone.

One thing Valerie, don’t think that you have to do everything there is to become successful, find something that you and your audience will like and go for it for a while, till you find something new and better.

I look forward to seeing you again on this website soon, as there is always something new and exciting to help your business to prosper.

      Best wishes,

      John ツ

  7. How to promote a product effectively is one of those questions I struggle with. From what I’ve seen, creating a free PDF book is still the best way to do things because you are offering something of value (and you better make sure it has value to the reader) for free and get a chance to share your paid product that should be better than the free book. There should be a natural progression from the free item to the paid one. If you get this right, people will always want to buy your product(s). A free membership is also nice but it does require more work and knowledge to pull off.

    • You are quite right Neil. I do agree with you. As an Internet marketer our first and foremost duty is to provide quality information for free. If your final goal is to sell a product, it will eventually come by itself, once your reader is satisfied. There is one thing that I always repeat in my marketing classes, is that people don’t want to be sold to, they want to buy. See the difference?

I often like to give away a free book which I know is very much appreciated because it is totally free to download, or read online, and most importantly I am not asking for contact details to promote something to them later, plus it is very useful. It is called “The One Signup A Day Strategy“. It is worth a read: ~~> https://easytoretire.com/1signupaday

Best wishes of success for your online venture.

  8. wow what am encouraging post, and I would say that its good for anyone selling a product to be a consumer of the same so at least people can have faith and trust in your products and even their effectiveness. Otherwise, I love your content as it will help many who are new in the market and even those with experience.

    • Thanks for taking the time to share your views Jeff. I’m glad that you liked my blog post and find it useful. I wish you the very best in your online venture and I look forward to seeing you here again soon. Lots of very interesting content in the pipeline.

      Cheers,

      John
