Tips for creating quality content – The rules to follow
I am going to show you how to become successful with your content marketing. Although for some, it seems to be a very difficult task. But, believe me it isn’t impossible to become an expert in writing good and useful articles for your website, blog, tutorials, etc.
There are rules to follow and with practice, nothing is impossible.
1. Why do you need to take the time to create quality content ?
But let’s start by looking at why we need to take our time to create valuable content to attract our potential customers. Indeed, generating valuable content is essential to attract and retain your audience:
- The majority of Internet users are overloaded with information and have become more and more demanding. They know at first glance what looks like is going to be a good copy, and what is simply rubbish.
- Generating quality content allows you to have your readers to interact with you and other of your readers via comments, and to share it on social media more easily.
- By providing more value to your customers, quality content automatically generates more sales. Your reader will say, “They give me good advice. They look competent. I want to know more! “
- Last but not least, quality content has a longer life on search engines. It will allow you to regularly bring free traffic to your site in the long run. And improve your SEO and ranking of your site on the search engines.
2. Create quality content step by step
Know who is your audience
The method to ensure the quality of your content is to always keep your target in mind and not to deviate. How are the people reading you are like? If you ask yourself this question, you already know who your ideal reader or prospect is. This is the first step to succeed with your content (and your activity in general). It is also one of the most important tips for creating quality content that I can give you.
If you are not sure how to remain focused on what your reader might look like, here is a technique I used in my early days of content marketing:
First, think about what sort of person might be interested in the product or service you are promoting. For example, if you are promoting weight loss products and you know of someone among your friends who might benefit from using this product, think of him or her. If you have a photo of that person, place it in front of you, and imagine that you are talking to your friend … in a friendly manner. That will work wonders, guaranteed.
But do you know what they are looking for?
So much the better if you have a well defined identikit picture of your ideal client. The above example would work as well here. But, on the other hand, it will be useless if you do not understand what they really need.
You must identify their problem and respond to this need or frustration:
- What mistakes do your customers / readers make?
- Do you have the solution that you can bring to them?
Ask yourself:
- What do they want to learn from you?
- And how much do you know on the subject?
If you have defined your activity well, there should be a common ground between these two questions. And all these common fields are what you need to publish on your blog.
Customized your content so that your reader feels like it was written especially for him or her.
Note: Have you really identified the frustration or need of your ideal client? Before rushing head down in writing your article, do a quick analysis of the competition to be certain that the same content has not already been published by a strong competitor.
If you are new to the industry, and you are not exactly dominating your industry or what your readers really want, make a list of the top 10 blogs in your industry. Note those who received the most comments. This is usually a very good indicator of what interests your target the most.
Work on your title:
The title of your content determines up to 80% the number of readers it will receive. Because it is not the same thing to write a title for the web as for a printed text. The amount of information available on a screen is limited, unlike a paper diary that allows you to see at the same time the title, the photo, the body of the article, etc.
On the internet, only the title will make your reader click in order to discover your article or not.

Organize your content in the form of “reverse pyramid”:
From the most to the least interesting, to get your reader’s attention right from the start. The concept of the inverted pyramid has been conceptualized by Nielsen Norman Group:
- 81% of your visitors read the first paragraph.
- They are 32% to read the 4th.
- And only 19.7% will venture below the waterline, also known as the fold (the imaginary line that separates the visible part of the invisible part of your computer screen).
Link your different content:
Integrate internal links between your different content, to help discover your site and retain your reader longer (the length of time visiting is a quality indicator for Google!).
Optimize your article around a keyword:
In order to be easily found on Google, your article must be written around a keyword or phrase. Include keywords and phrases related to your brand and industry. This will help your content to gradually rank better in the search engines.
For that, I recommend that you use the best and free keyword research tool on the Internet ➸ Jaaxy
Use a direct, simple and concise language:
Always use the active voice. Make short sentences. Ideally limit your sentences to 20 words. Lighten up your text as much as possible and avoid anything that does not bring any value to your reader and / or useless expressions like “as said before”, etc.
Aerate and divide your texts into paragraphs:
Have paragraphs that are not too long (max 5/6 lines) and use bullet points! Limit yourself to one idea per paragraph. Insert subtitles for easy reading. Remember that most people do not read a web page in a linear fashion, but read blocks of information.
Make images your allies:
A good text must be accompanied by good and sharp images. Images not only help to make reading your article more digestible, but will help to catch the attention of your readers. Avoid images already viewed 1000 times from free image sites that are accessible to all. Instead, try to personalize your illustrations so your reader can feel a connection and closeness with you.
Conclusion:

Wow, those are all excellent tips for creating quality content. I really like how you talked about a technique you used by thinking of a friend who could really benefit from the product I’m promoting or talking about. I really need to think of that more often or at least have a picture of said person in front of me to help me remember who I’m actually writing for. Thank you for posting this! Do you also do a lot of research to see what people are looking for or need help with?

This advice is pretty accurate. People don’t like gigantic chunks of text. It’s nice to break it up with images and putting your ads in the right places in your articles.
Knowing your audience is super important too. you have to make sure your content is being seen by the right people.
thanks for the good advice.
Thanks very much for being a regular reader of my content Jonathan. Your input is very useful for my readers and I am glad that you agree with my suggestions.
You are quite right, the length of an article is of most importance. One must make a balance between it being long enough to satisfy Google, and not too long so that your reader doesn’t get bored and goes away. I have written an article not so long ago which addresses the subject very well. Here it is: What Is The Best Length For A Blog Post?
Enjoy it.

Thanks for this article! I learned a couple things that make sense, but I hadn’t run across them before.
Those statistics about how many visitors actually scroll down… wow. Scary. Guess we know why we’re fighting tooth and nail to lower our bounce rate now!
Looking at the # of comments on related sites to mine is another idea I hadn’t seen or thought of yet. Good stuff.
Now if I can just master the almighty CTR!! lol
